I Couldn't Resist
Here's something that popped into my head this morning and I feel the need to share it with you, my indulgent audience. Can you guess where this ditty came from?
Gloom, despair and agony on me
Deep dark depression, excessive misery
If it weren't for bad luck
I'd have no luck at all
Gloom, despair and agony on me
Mine is truly a thought-provoking blog.

It's actually "Gloom, despair, etc."
And that's from HeeHaw--not otherwise known as a great source of existential angst.
D'Oh! Of course it is...I will edit it right now!
Anonymous in Ohio says: Thank you SO much for stimulating that long unused portion of my brain that has stored those particular memories! Do you also remember: "Oh, we're not ones to go round and spread rumors. Oh, really we're just not the gossipy kind"... Or perhaps: "I searched the world over and thought I'd found true love. You met another and *pppllth* you were gone"... Those are just about the only memories of Hee Haw that remain other than the big boosoms of the female characters (I was very strongly adolescent at that time), and that old lady that wore hats with the tags still on them (Minnie Pearl, I believe it was). Oh, and then there's Granpa Jones and his banjo pickin'... Ah, the memories of times long gone...
